The first time we traveled with Riggins, I think we packed more for him than we did for Brett and I combined. I even joked that traveling with a puppy is like traveling with a baby! A few trips later and we have a much better idea of what he needs and doesn’t need when we go away. Since we travel fairly frequently I made a box with all of Riggin’s travel essentials so we can just grab and go the day of our trip.

I was able to get everything I needed for Riggin’s travel box at Target and right now you can save up to 20% on Purina products when you use the Cartwheel app. Here’s what I included in our travel box:

Purina BENEFUL® Original Dog Food: Obviously his food is the most important thing to pack. At home we buy the giant bags of dog food, but the 3.5 pound bags are perfect for traveling. Purina has a lot of great dry dog food options, but I like that meat is the #1 ingredient in Purina BENEFUL® Original and also includes whole grains and vegetables.

Plastic Dog Bowls: We have these navy and white stoneware bowls for everyday use, and brought them along with us the first few times we traveled. I like having separate travel bowls though and since they are plastic, I don’t have to worry about them breaking in transit. I also have a set that we keep at my parents house since we visit there frequently.

Dog Wipes: We use these dog wipes to wipe down Riggins almost daily. It’s especially important to keep English Bulldog’s folds clean and these wipes do the trick. (I can’t say Riggins is the biggest fan of them though!)

Towel & Lint Roller: We want Riggins invited back again! I like to have a towel to wipe his paws with when he comes in from outside and lint roller to give to our hosts to remove any unwanted dog hair from their clothes or furniture.

Treats: Riggins inevitably gets spoiled with treats whenever we go visit family. Purina Beggin Strips are one of his favorite treats. I like to keep them with me in the front seat so I can pass back a treat or two during the car ride to keep him calm.

Miscellaneous Essentials: When Riggins spent the week at my parents house when Brett and I went to New York, I left my mom with a few of our shirts to put in Riggins crate so our sent was with him.  We also bring one or two of his favorite toys, but again he usually gets new toys when we go visit family so I don’t bring too many.

What a great idea to put together a box of essentials! I also love getting the smaller bags of Purina dog food for traveling, so much more convenient! [client]
