I can’t think of a better way to start the week than with some special news. Brett and I are thrilled to announce that we’re expecting our first child in December! It’s been so hard keeping this secret so I’m so excited to finally be able to spill the beans. Later this week I will be sharing our fertility journey, but today I wanted to answer some of the most common questions I’ve been getting when we tell people we’re expecting.How Far Along: 15 weeks
Due Date: Early December
How I’m Feeling: Overall pretty great. I haven’t had any morning sickness or weird food aversions. I did get very tired during my first trimester, especially between weeks 6-8. There were many days when I found myself on the couch at 2pm struggling to keep my eyes opened. Even now, a few weeks into my second trimester, I still find myself pretty exhausted by late afternoon/early evening.
What I’m Craving: Fresh fruit, especially fruit salad! I’m pretty sure I’ve had fruit salad every day since getting pregnant. I’ve always enjoyed fresh fruit, but this pregnancy has taken it to a whole new level. Every Sunday I make a big bowl of fruit salad with whatever fruit looks good at the store that week. I have fresh berries and cherries in my oatmeal every morning, fruit salad with lunch, an apple as an afternoon snack and sometimes a few cherries before or after dinner.
Exercise: Believe it or not I’m actually exercising more now than I was before. Even during the weeks where I was incredibly exhausted, I still went to Bar Method 4 times a week most weeks. Now that the weather is nice I’ve been running twice a week and going to Bar Method 2-3 times a week. We’ve also been taking Riggins out for longer walks, which is helping me reach my step goal of 12,000 steps/day. I plan to run for as long as it’s comfortable and hope to continue Bar Method throughout my entire pregnancy.
What I’m Wearing: Anything that fits! I’m in that weird stage where I don’t have a bump, but my middle has definitely gotten thicker. I’m still wearing my normal clothes, but my jeans have gotten tighter. The hair tie trick has been a lifesaver! I’ve also noticed that I don’t like the way a some of my clothes lay on me, but this could also just be me being self conscious of my changing body. Any other pregnant woman/mothers out there feel that way? I’m embracing all the loose, flowing dresses this summer (and elastic waistband shorts) and I’m hoping to hold off on ordering maternity clothes for a little while longer.
