It seems like just yesterday I was announcing I was pregnant, and now I’m past the halfway point. How did that happen?!?
How Far Along: 22 weeks
Due Date: Early December
How I’m Feeling: I joke to Brett that although getting pregnant wasn’t easy for us, being easy has been smooth sailing for the most part. I finally got past the exhaustion and it’s been so nice having energy again. I don’t feel like I need to be in bed at 9pm. I think I’m starting to enter the nesting phase because I want to organize every inch of our house. This past weekend was the bathroom cabinet! Every once in a while I’ll get a bad headache, but that’s nothing new for me. It’s just that now I can’t take my prescription medication.
What I’m Craving: Still fresh fruit! In addition to berries and cherries I’ve been loving peaches. There was one day where all I wanted was a lobster roll and I thought maybe this was the start of cravings, but I haven’t been craving one since. (Not that I would turn one down, lobster rolls are still one of my favorite foods!)
Symptoms: No major symptoms yet. I haven’t noticed an increase in appetite, but I have noticed that I start to get headaches if I don’t eat every few hours, especially in the afternoons. Apples with PB2, granola bars and peanut butter crackers have been my go to. I’m still sleeping really well too.
Exercise: I’m still taking Bar Method 3 times a week and running twice a week. I also took an Orangetheory class last month and I’m hooked now. The first class I took was sponsored by Bump Club and Beyond so the class focused on modifications and safety for expectant moms. It’s pretty intense so I’m trying to go once a week until it gets uncomfortable. My doctor has given me her blessing to continue to exercise throughout the duration of my pregnancy and I’m so grateful for that.
What I’m Wearing: I’m still not showing unless I wear something really fitted, which isn’t really my style anyway, which means I’m still able to wear my non-maternity clothes. This dress and this have been a two of my favorites this summer. My jeans still fit (some with the rubber band trick), but I did buy a pair of maternity jeans when I saw them on sale (this pair) and OMG they are so comfy. I kind of want to wear them all the time!
- Finding out we’re having a girl! Funny story about this. After we cut the cake and saw the pink frosting, Brett said let’s open the envelope to make sure it’s definitely a girl. We were expecting some medical report confirming the gender, but all it was was a white piece of paper with “It’s A Girl!” written in pen. We were like, “that’s it?”
- Going shopping for baby clothes. As soon as we found out we were having a girl, my mom, sister and I went shopping to pick out outfits for our little baby. This was only my second time in a baby store since finding out we were expecting and my first time buying something for the baby. I was so nervous that something would happen early on that I didn’t want to jinx it by buying something.
- Feeling the baby move. The first time I felt the baby move was around 16 weeks and it was at the end of Bar Method during final stretch. It took me a minute to realize it was the baby and not just some weird pulse in my belly. Lately I’ve been feeling what feel like little kicks and less like flutters. Brett still can’t feel any movement though, but he’s convinced Riggins can. He’s been curling up on my stomach a lot more at night than he normally does.
- Our 20 week ultrasound appointment. When we originally made the appointment Brett was planning to come with me, but he found out he had a client meeting the same day a week or so before the appointment. We couldn’t get another appointment that worked with our schedules and the doctor’s schedule so I asked my mom to come with me instead. At first I was pretty disappointed that Brett couldn’t be there, but it ended up being a really special afternoon with my mom.
