It’s official, baby G is a girl! I was 100% convinced that we were having a boy so I was completely shocked when we cut into the donut cake and saw it’s a girl. Brett on the other hand thought for sure it would be a girl. I think I was more surprised to find out we were having a girl than when we found out we were pregnant.I really wanted the gender reveal to be a fun surprise for our families, but I wasn’t quite sure how I wanted to do it.Twigs and Twirls provided us with the sweetest gender reveal party decor, but I still couldn’t figure out how to do the actual reveal. Brett doesn’t really like cake and I knew popping a balloon would terrify Riggins. We both love donuts so I had the idea to call Firecakes and ask them to make a gender reveal donut cake. They said they could make a 3-layer donut cake and fill it with either raspberry or blueberry cream. I love how it turned out and we all enjoyed digging in after the gender reveal. You can’t go wrong with Firecakes Donuts!
When we had our 20 week ultrasound last week I was so nervous I would accidentally see the gender. Of course I really had no idea what to look for so it was highly unlikely but I still didn’t want to risk it. Again, after we picked up the cake I thought for sure I would drop it or ruin the surprise some other way. I actually made Brett carry it up our stairs from the garage because I didn’t trust myself. I’m still surprised the secret didn’t get out before we cut the cake.
Now that we know the gender I can’t wait to start planning the nursery and of course buying all the little baby girl clothes!
