  • I typically eat the same thing for breakfast every day during the week. In the winter it’s oatmeal with berries. In the warmer months I love overnight oats. I’ve spent the summer testing out different overnight recipes and fruit combinations and I’ve finally found my favorite!pear and cherry overnight oatsMy parents have a pear tree growing in their backyard and now that the pears are ripe, I like to pick a few every time I’m home. Knowing the pears came directly from my parent’s backyard somehow makes them taste that much better! I never thought about paring pears with cherries, but last week I had some extra cherries in the fridge I needed to use up and decided to give it a try. Turns out I love it! I’m going to be so bummed when cherries are no longer in season.Pear and cherry overnight oatsFor this recipe I’ve found a few things that make it stand out against others. Almond extract is key. I used to put in vanilla, but since starting to use almond extract there is so much more flavor. I also swapped honey for pure maple syrup. Lastly, I’ve found Siggi’s Greek yogurt works best with overnight oats. It’s very thick, which I like, but of course you can use any Greek yogurt you like.Pear and cherry overnight oatsTo keep me fuller longer, I add in a little scoop of chia seeds and flaxseeds. I love these travel packs for perfect portion control! I’ve also tried using PB2, but I didn’t like the result as much. I make these all on ┬áSunday’s so during the week I just grab one as I’m heading out the door.
