The Waiting Game

  • We’re just a few days shy of our due date, which means we’re officially on #babywatch2017. I didn’t think this waiting game would bother me as much as it is, but not knowing when this baby is going to come is making me so anxious! Any tips or advice on what to do while waiting? Send my way!WAITING GAMEThe nursery is finished, all the clothes and blankets are washed, our freezer is full of meals for the next few weeks and our bags are packed and in the car so now all we have to do is wait. As anxious as I feel about not knowing when baby G will make her arrival, I am also really enjoying this relatively slow, quiet time. Here are a few of the things we’ve been doing while waiting. I know these are all things that we can (and hopefully will) continue to do after baby, but I also know they certainly won’t be as easy.waiting game

Plan A Date Night (or two). We’ve definitely been eating out more the past few weeks than we normally do. We’ve been going out for date nights at our favorite neighborhood restaurants as well as meeting friends for dinner. We had dinner with friends earlier this week and it was weird to think that it was likely the last time we’d be going out to dinner without needing a babysitter.

Plan Some Friend Time. Both Brett and I have been making plans with our friends separately. Having this time a part is really important to a relationship and will be something we’ll have to plan for more in the future. Tonight I’m going to the Southport Stroll with Monica and tomorrow I’m getting mani/pedi’s with another friend.

Go See A Movie. Pretty much the only time Brett and I go to the movies is during our annual holiday staycation the week between Christmas and the New Year. Our staycation is going to look a lot different this year, so a movie won’t be in the picture. We snuck in a movie last month though and will likely be our last one for a long time. If we’re going to be getting a babysitter for an afternoon out, I’d much rather spend that time enjoying a nice meal. But who knows, I may be so exhausted a movie will be just what I need!

Sleep In. Ever since I started working from home full time at 36 weeks I would get up before Brett to shower and get ready for the day before Riggins and I walk Brett to the train for work. This past week though I’ve been sleeping in and getting ready after our walk. It’s only an extra 30 minutes or so, but I am cherishing those 30 minutes of sleep while I can!

Take Maternity Photos. I was very against having professional maternity photos taken, but last week when my family was here for Thanksgiving I asked my mom to take a few photos of Brett and I. I know I’ll be happy to have these photos to look back on years from now and I may even frame them for the nursery.waiting gamewaiting gamewaiting game
